GM Paid back Gov't loan? Toyota spending a Million an hour? and more...

Big news being played daily in Television Ads... GM Pays back Gov't bailout Money.

Sounds good until this "General Motors only repaid the bailout money by dipping into a separate pot of bailout money"... Sounds like the Gov't doesn't it, take money from one pot and put it in another and then Shout out to the World "I paid the money back".

Shhesshhhhh as much as things change they really don't...

Toyota meanwhile is running Ads they are "Spending a Million Dollars an Hour to make their cars safer"...

Hmmm that Ad made me think they were pouring an "Extra" Million dollars a day but no.... "http://www.nationalpost.com/cars/story.html?id=2472098

Seems they have been spending that kind of R&D money since 1994... Again lets make some Ads that will make us look good but in reality the "Different day Same S***" still applies...

Speaking of Government... The State of Florida has required that anyone that cuts hair in a business setting must have a license for like 50 years or so BUT if you want to inject stuff into someones skin you only "needed supervision"... Dohhhhh

So finally, like 50 years late IMHO, the legislature is going to require "licensing for Tatoo Shops"

So for all this time a Cosmetic Shop required a license but not a place that injects stuff into your body... Again the brilliant minds at work in our Governments...

When will eReaders be ready for Prime Time...

A few weeks ago I decided to look into the state of eReaders and of course started with the Kindle and Nook, both of which seem to have a lot going for them however they each have one glaring omission...

Kindle.. No WiFi
Nook.. No Browser

Ok for $250.00 I would like all the bells and whistles...

So I spent $100.00 (on sale) for a Jetbook Lite, does everything the others do without any connectivity, a great little eReader and renders .pdf's very well which i have read can be an issue.

Of course I have to download the books to my computer and then move them via USB to the eReader. I just don't see why I would spend $150.00 more to download them direct to the eReader Unless I can also connect both via 3G and WiFi and use a Browser to find other content not at Amazon or Barnes and Noble...

So, if you want to spend $250.00 for a flawed solution fine... run out and grab a Kindle or Nook or if you just want a really handy way to carry multiple books (lots actually) and read them conveniently then look for another solution, at least until Amazon or Barnes and Noble get with the program and provide the whole enchilada...

And no I am not paying $500 plus for a iPad that doesn't work great at any one thing...

Just my rambling...

Missing the Boat again...

I stumbled across a very interesting Article in the New York Times today...

"Europe Finds Clean Energy in Trash, but U.S. Lags Behind"

Would you rather have a Landfill in your Backyard or a well controlled waste disposal plant that not only reduces landfill use but creates Energy, heat and electricity.

This is something an area such as Jacksonville should be investigating, reduce landfill use, turn some of the waste into renewable energy, create a waste disposal system that actually pays for itself...

At a time where our City leaders are discussing a $750 Million extension for the Trailridge Landfill shouldn't we be looking to ensure that those 35 years are extended to 50 or 100 with an old idea that uses new technology...

To keep doing things "The way they have always been done" is just not smart or in our best interests...

Ps... Not to mention the "Trailridge Deal" is a bad deal by all accounts...

Pss... I haven't seen anything of substance from the 11 (at last count) Declared Candidates for Mayor however I sure hope we hear some innovative ideas that have merit from some of them, this wouldn't be a bad place to start...

Wake up Mr. President

53% of US don't buy it...
CBS News Poll Most Americans Remain Against Health Care Overhaul

The more I see this President in Action the more I am convinced he has his own agenda and has no concern for what we think, because he knows what is best for us...

I don't care if the President is Democratic or Republican, I DO care that he listens to those that elected him, this is still a democracy and and in my eyes the Obama Presidency is on a fast track to a Single term and then OUT!
